Work @ Colgate University

I joined Colgate University's IT Department in November 2005 after doing some contract computer training for the State of NY Office of Children and Family Services. Before that, I taught in an elementary school computer lab in New Hartford, NY for 13 years.

For the first five years as a member of Academic Technologies team. My duties included:

  • Assist faculty in the identification, development and implementation of specific technologies that meet their teaching or research goals

  • Support technology-enhanced teaching classrooms, public computer labs, and other learning spaces including imaging and maintenance of over 130 classroom computers

  • Design and implement faculty and student training programs around technology and information literacy in the curriculum

  • Deliver regular workshops for faculty and staff on various standard software applications

Anita Grover MD '74 & Tom Hargrove P'14 Digital Learning & Media Center

In the fall of 2012, Colgate opened the Anita Grover MD '74 & Tom Hargrove P'14 Digital Learning & Media Center. The Digital Learning & Media Center is a highly visible, open learning space that can be used as a collaborative studio, a formal classroom, a computer lab, a showcase for student work, and a hub for media equipment use and lending. I manage the DLMC and a staff of approximately 15 Media Mentors. Since the opening, we have supported over 200 academic classes (over 4000 students) and loaned over 12,000 pieces of equipment to students, faculty and staff.
